micron associates -2012 trends
It’s clear that migrating business to the cloud reached a tipping point in 2011 where it is no longer a trend, but has become an absolute business requirement. This growth stems from the fact that it’s available and effective.
In the most transformative technology shift since the personal computer and the Internet, it’s clear that companies, both large and small, now fully recognize the advantages of shifting their IT and business needs to the cloud. No longer does it take a team of IT professionals and large budgets to deploy upgrade and manage a company’s technology. Developers, business managers and IT pros turn to the cloud for the reason that it simply solves their problems. However, while 2011 may be the year companies got serious about the cloud, 2012 will prove to be the year of cloud management. Since cloud is our business, we at RightScale are always tracking the latest developments and where the technology is headed. As they gear up for another busy year, they have identified a few of the top trends that they feel are set to make an impact on businesses in 2012: 1. Step 2 Is Visibility. In 2011, companies realized that virtualization is only the halfway point and that a true cloud is automated, scalable and most importantly, API-driven. In 2012, enterprises must increase visibility into the entire lifecycle of cloud-based applications, from development to deployment to operations – and across multiple cloud providers and resource pools. Regarded as a dark horse for getting deep into the Class 7A playoffs, the Lake Zurich Bears are proving a lot of so-called experts wrong, as they continue to defy the odds by beating their post-season opponents.
Saturday afternoon, the Elk Grove Grenadiers were their latest victims, as the Bears notched a 17-10 victory in a game that was not as close as the score indicated. The Bears let the Grenadiers work the ball downfield on a drive that started with 3:08 remaining in the fourth quarter, and Elk Grove eventually scored their first and only touchdown with 0:28 remaining in the game. “That was the plan,†admitted defensive back Chris Rantis, “to let them run out the clock on that last drive.†It worked — with under 30 seconds remaining, Elk Grove kicker Julian Leija tried an onside kick, but Lake Zurich recovered at midfield and quarterback Steven Kuhn took a knee to run out the clock. It was a matchup of two teams with exceptional defensive units, and each squad’s first downs were few and far between. In fact, both teams went three-and-out on their first two possessions, although the Bears gave the Grenadiers the ball back when John Orlando fumbled the punt return on his team’s second possession. The Bears defense induced another three-and-out, however. The Bears finally broke through early in the second quarter with a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Elk Grove quart... The largest country on the planet is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup.
On 2 December 2010, the FIFA Executive Committee made an historic decision, naming Russia host of the 2018 FIFA World CupTM. Russia’s inspirational bid won the absolute majority it needed to secure world sport’s greatest prize. A star-studded Russian delegation attended the ceremony in snow-clad Zurich; illustrious names like: Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Vitaly Mutko, Russia’s Sports Minister; Alexey Sorokin, Russia 2018 Bid CEO; Andrey Arshavin, captain of the Russian national team; Anna Netrebko, world-famous opera singer; Valery Gergiev, celebrated conductor and artistic director of the Mariinsky theatre; and Elena Isinbayeva, two-time Olympic champion and track-and-field legend. They came together from different fields and different backgrounds, united by a single vision: to bring the FIFA World Cup to Russia. “I remember being incredibly nervous when the FIFA President, Joseph Blatter, was taking that piece of paper out of the envelope. When you sing on the world’s greatest stages, you know that the outcome is in your hands. But on that day in Zurich, we could only stand and watch,†says Netrebko. “We just held hands and waited. I will remember the moment I saw the word ‘Russia’ in President Blatter’s hands for the rest of my life. I know we will give the world a... Nov. 29 (Bloomberg) — Swiss stocks closed higher as euro- area finance ministers met to discuss insuring a portion of bonds issued by debt-stricken countries and an Italian bond auction was oversubscribed by investors.
UBS AG and Zurich Financial Services AG, the largest Swiss bank and insurer respectively, each rose at least 1.3 percent. Transocean Ltd., the biggest provider of offshore drilling rigs, dropped 8.7 percent after selling shares. The Swiss Market Index, a measure of the largest and most actively traded companies, edged up 0.2 percent to 5,531.24 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Zurich, shifting between gains and losses all day. The gauge has rebounded 15 percent from this year’s low on Aug. 10 amid speculation that policy makers will act to resolve the 17-member euro region’s debt crisis. The Swiss Performance Index advanced less than 0.2 percent today. “The bad news is that Italian rates are still very high,†said Henrik Henriksen, chief investment strategist at PFA Pension A/S, which manages $45 billion in Copenhagen. “The good news is that someone actually wants to buy Italian bonds,†Italy was again forced to pay above the 7 percent threshold that led Greece, Portugal and Ireland to seek bailouts when it sold 7.5 billion euros ($10 billion) in bonds today, short of the maximum target for the auction. Demand for a 2014 bond was 1.5 times the amount sold, whi... Brightbridge Wealth Management Headlines: Canada dominates World Cup short-track in Quebec

Trading in the domestic stock markets was a bit dull last week due to the holidays. The stock markets remained in a narrow range, expecting some concrete directions from the global markets. Currently, there is lot of uncertainty in the European markets, both on the economic and political fronts. The markets are expected to remain volatile with a negative bias in the short term. Analysts suggest individual investors should remain cautious with respect to their short and medium-term positions.
These are some of the significant developments in the markets: US exports higher There has been some positive news from the US. The US exports have increased in automobiles, aviation and heavy machinery sectors. This has helped in reducing the overall trade deficit. On the other hand, the number of lay-offs has come down and new job creation has picked up. This resulted in a reduced number of unemployment claims that touched a 7-month low according to recent data. These are positive data points from the US markets and good for the global markets . However, it’s a bit early to conclude that the worst is behind us. Analysts are tracking the European markets closely as Europe is a very big market and a recession there still has the potential to pull down the world economy.
